Changes to my study programme

Actually the psychology career at Universidad de Chile is a very versatile career, in which you can choose between several psychological schools of thought and laboral areas. On this career you have to pass the first cycle, in which every student has the same subjects, and once you passed this cycle, you can register any subject you would like (considering the UD limit) and to build your own curriculum map, and in the last year you finish with the professional practice and thesis. I think this is great, but I think some things could be better. For example, I liked very much the firsts subjects I took, but I think a lot of themes that some teachers teach us aren't fully related to the career. I must say that some subjects feel like it would be a filling, and I am sure I am not the only one with that opinion. I don't have much to say about the second cycle, I like the freedom that the psychology department gives to the students to choose their subjects according to what the students like and what kind of psychologist they would like to be. The only snag I can think is the managements of the psychological department, They have removed some elective subjects under their judgment. I think this is not bad at all, the study programme must refresh constantly, but considering that there was a lot of students that wanted to register in these subjects, I think It's not a democractic way. Although, they have made numerous assemblies last years, where the academics and the students can participate and give their opinion, then we can build a study programme together from different perspectives.
