English Language Challenges

It's a little weird thinking this is the last blog we are going to write, The semester passed too quickly and this subject is finishing. I must say that I liked this subject, and I think miss Zagal is the person responsible of this, because she makes every class get dynamic being nice with every student.
I think the blogs helped me at  making sentences, which I was a little hopeles (It's still being hard to write a 260 words blog), and in addition, after years I can say finally that I can understand the listening activities (there was a lot of years of me listening to Chinese instead English haha),
I need to improve my pronunciation, which isn't very good, I train singing English songs that I like, watching TV series with English audio and subtitles
I use the English language daily, there is English everywhere, and it is very useful to know it,
especially if you like browsing throughout Internet. Actually, the most of the virtual world is in English as we can see in the music, the games, the movies, the science, the forums, the enterprises, etc, so if you open your mind to a new language, you enter to a new culture, and that's really funny and interesting,
Nowadays, I have been improving my English with an application called Duolingo, which you can practice your vocabulary in different languages. I totally recommend this application, I think it is a good way to killing time and getting better at English or another language, instead of scrolling on Facebook while you are on your cellphone.

Changes to my study programme

Actually the psychology career at Universidad de Chile is a very versatile career, in which you can choose between several psychological schools of thought and laboral areas. On this career you have to pass the first cycle, in which every student has the same subjects, and once you passed this cycle, you can register any subject you would like (considering the UD limit) and to build your own curriculum map, and in the last year you finish with the professional practice and thesis. I think this is great, but I think some things could be better. For example, I liked very much the firsts subjects I took, but I think a lot of themes that some teachers teach us aren't fully related to the career. I must say that some subjects feel like it would be a filling, and I am sure I am not the only one with that opinion. I don't have much to say about the second cycle, I like the freedom that the psychology department gives to the students to choose their subjects according to what the students like and what kind of psychologist they would like to be. The only snag I can think is the managements of the psychological department, They have removed some elective subjects under their judgment. I think this is not bad at all, the study programme must refresh constantly, but considering that there was a lot of students that wanted to register in these subjects, I think It's not a democractic way. Although, they have made numerous assemblies last years, where the academics and the students can participate and give their opinion, then we can build a study programme together from different perspectives.

Winter Holidays

I don't usually travel on my winter holidays (I don't usually have winter holidays...). On vacations I usually stay at home, in my city, Rancagua, so I can stay with my family and meet my old friends, In that way I enjoy my vacations. I can't say that I love mi city, but at least is more peaceful than Santiago, the air is cleaner and every place is closer. While I am in Rancagua I can visit all my friends just riding my bicycle (I miss my bike).
I like to be in home because is hard to live in Santiago when you have to cook your own food. I don't want to say that I am bad at the kitchen, but I can't compare me with my mom. When I am in my home I enjoy very much when my mom cook whatever. I would love to eat her lasagna right now.
The good part of being in my city on holidays is that all my friends (except those who had student strike for a long time) are in Rancagua too, what never happens in mid of the school year.
Probably on those weeks my band will get together to play some good songs, I miss to play with them all the time, so those weeks are a good oportunity to be with them.
My mission on this holidays will be to learn playing accordion, considering that somebody lend one to my dad for a time.
I hope we won't go on student strike. I want vacations.

Post 6: Post graduate Studies

One of my dreams is to finish my career in the university and then to travel abroad, Preferably I would like to leave Chile in a study trip and realise post graduate studies. There is a  lot of countries/cities that I am interested about their cultures, people, life styles and obviously their prestigious universities
Considering that a trip and residency is an expensive cost, It would be great to get a scolarship to make it possible, because it would make easier all the process. The money is a very influential factor after all.
Obviously I would like to specialize in some psychology field. I am not sure in which, but there are some influential and important figures that I would like to meet, like scientists, authors and distinguished teachers that work in renowned universities, so to have the opportunity of studying and working with them, in different places with rich knowledges, in constant progress and in a distinct culture, would be very useful for my formation and my curriculum, therefore It would give me more oportunitites in a future contributing to my profesional development.
For all these reasons I would like to do a study trip. If I couldn't make the trip, I would like to make my post graduate studies in Chile anyway, but my principal objective is to leave the country to know more about the world and my career. Maybe it sounds a little ambitious, but it would be great to realise.

Someone I'd like to meet

There are a few musicians I would like to meet. One of these musicians is Kurt Cobain. I think that I'd like to talk to him about the meaning of his songs, what he was thinking when he was writting Nirvana's songs, and principally I'd like to know him and his personality. Actually, I'm interested in his life too, principally his adolescence, when he started the band.

Another musician that I like and i'd like too meet is Freddie Mercury, his life was full of milestones, he lived in different countries, he belonged to numerous bands before making Queen as his deffinitive band which made him rise to fame. I think he was a great example in the music field, and an important icon of the homosexuality, which made him an influential person up to today, I think that there is a lot of themes that we could talk about.

Finally, a band that i'd like to meet is "Walk off the earth" (you can find them in youtube if you wish), principally I'd like to meet Giani Nicassio, who is the leader, founder, and the mainly singer. I like them because they make a lot of covers of popular songs in different styles and in a very funny way, making loops, playing common or exotic musical instruments, with varied backgrounds . I think they enjoy the music entirely, so i'd like to talk and play with them, definetively it would be memorable.

It should be remarked that I would ask all of them some live songs.

A country i would like to travel

I think that the most of the people would like to travel around the world. I am one of them, I have so many countries that I would like to travel, and one of the locations that I must visit is Italy. I have admired this beautiful country and rich culture since I was 15 more or less. There is so many tourist places: Colosseum, St. Peter's Basilica, Pantheon, numerous ancient churchs etc, where the art and the interesting architecture characterices this city. At the same time, Roma has Vatican inside, the capital of catolicism, what makes it more attractive for a tourist. On the other hand, the culinary way practically is a obligattory step if you want to visit Italy, so if you can find good restaurants where you can taste the Italian pizza, spaghetti and coffee, the trip will be more unforgettable. Obviously I can't forget to mention the museums that Roma has, where you can appreciate the art that this city provides with many paintings and sculptures. Finally, I have to say that the italian language is a little obstacle if I want to visit this country, that's why I would like to learn it before to travel.
